About the Club
The Chester Garden Club is a not -for-profit organization, which was created by a group of local gardening enthusiasts in Chester, NJ in 1967. The main objective of our club is the promotion of general interest in gardening in the community and the advancement of horticulture, conservation, the environment and civic beauty. To accomplish this, the club members are involved in various projects throughout the year. They are responsible for plantings at several municipal locations and support other not-for-profit organizations either by donating funds to them or by actually participating in their projects.
By joining our club, people can meet other gardening enthusiasts, exchange ideas with them, learn about horticulture and the natural world, tour botanical sites, and compete for flower show awards. Membership is open to anyone who is interested in gardening and is willing to attend our meetings and donate his or her time and efforts to participate in our projects.
The Chester Garden Club meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month except for January and July, mostly at the Chester Library, 250 West Main Street, Chester, NJ 07930. We begin our meetings at 9:30 AM for coffee, sharing ideas and friendship. Our business meeting begins promptly at 10:00 A.M. followed by a program at 11:00.
